Echoing MPL's comments above about wide local variations in New Hampshire. The school district in question is in the Lakes Region, one of the more conservative regions in the state. The small town government structure often leads to conflicts of interest, as reported in the Concord Monitor article (the school board chairman worked on the McCain campaign, so he dismissed the complaint about blocking Obama's speech as politically motivated). The state has a strong libertarian streak, which is why it was so Republican for so long (when I first moved here I registered as an independent because it allowed me to vote in the Republican primary, which at the time was where many elections were effectively decided).

Unlike most states, our theocrats do not dominate the state Republican party, but that faction does exist, and they have been known to take over the occasional school board.

In case any higher beings happen to read this (Anyone? Mictlantecuhtli? Bueller? Bueller?), I think I should just mention that Ronna Cadarette is my favourite high school principal.

Jackal @ #6:

Am I the only Obama supporter who sees a difference between the Bible quote "... make his children fatherless..." prayer and the All-my-favorite-washed-up-celebrities-are-dead prayer? I'm not talking about the rest of the content on the FB group in question, just the title.

Two FB groups for people who'd like the President to die, with the supporters of one of them suffering from the additional delusion that their invisible friend might actually listen to them?

That's a school 'principal', not a 'principle' - and don't try to blame that mistake on teh gayz.

Now who wants a principal who thinks it's funny to wish people dead?

Hey mabus, want to try for a principal's job in the USA? It sounds like you'll fit in nicely in that school. Just make sure you learn to pronounce 'about' properly before you apply. And no threatening the president; we don't like that.

Principal Ronna Cadarette claims it was all an understanding, leave me away

Oh, I think we all understand you quite well Principal Cadarette, and we all think leaving you (far, far) away would be an excellent idea.

Better story about the same thing http://www.concordmonitor.com/article/principal-anti-obama-facebook-group-joke

(Sorry, but I was highly annoyed that the OP link entirely lacked the name of the school district, and other facts. Besides, the Concord Monitor actually broke the story).

New Hampshire does tend to be moderate on average. But in addition to the conservative streak, up north, the towns are very small, and small towns are often less average than big ones (for simple reasons of statistics). So perhaps it's not so surprising to get an off-the-charts jerk like this up there.

My experience in New Hampshire is somewhat similar .... some of the coolest people that I personally know happen to live there in fact. But you have to admit, within New England, New Hampshire and Connecticut both have conservative streaks. In Conn, it's because of the wealth. In NH, it's more of a populous "live free or die" thing.

But yes, your comment here perfectly expresses my thoughts when I saw the story as well. It made me extra pissed at that principal.

That's odd, my experience as a New Hampshirite is that most people have fairly moderate views out there and you get a good mix of left and right. There's extremes of course, but I felt it hard to demonize a candidate when you have the opportunity to see them speak and ask questions multiple times during their election race across NH during primaries. Sad to hear of my home state in such an awkward fashion.
