I had a doctor who thought I was making stuff up. (Quote: “I thought you must have imagined it.”) After a correct diagnosis by an X-ray tech, the doc had nothing but crow to eat: everything I’d told him now fit perfectly.

Doctors lie to patients. We know this. But what’s the fix?
