God wants them to build a bigger and better church with the hard-earned money of the church-goers. And this is all in preparation for the Rapture, which should be coming soon.

No, you’ve got it all wrong – God is angry because someone who it NOT a member of that church did something He didn’t like, so naturally he punished someone else. Isn’t that how other natural disasters are usually explained?

Of course, there was someone at that church that said something that was a sin so god sent 30 inches of snow to DC and inconvenienced 75 million other people with a blizzard just to knock that tree down on that church.

God acts in mysterious ways. It is not for us to know.
