You do realize, of course, that stopping the manufacturer was never meant to stop individual soldiers but to allow those individuals soldiers to follow their own consciences and beliefs?

Or do you believe not only that all soldiers should believe, but that they all must believe exactly what you believe (or, more accurately in this case, Trijicon believes)?

What if they’d rather mark their weapon with a verse from the Old Testament?

BTW, I love how Trijicon kept talking about Judeo-Christian, but used New Testament verses…

I can only assume that Righteous Soldier is either a Catholic (and thus believes in things like “relics” and “protection” from “holy” objects), or he’s a Protestant with zero knowledge of the tenants of his faith.

Cromwell and Knox and other founders of Protestant denominations would consider “marking” items to give you strength in battle, little more than witchcraft.

“Righteous” can’t tell if you’re Poe, but if not – the soldiers who need faith are the ones who are the weakest. They should be well trained and able to rely on their buddies – and that should not be faith but rational expectation based on their knoweldge of their squadmates. Since prayer has failed every time it’s been tested, their better off not wasting their time, unless they’re the bed-wetting type who needs a hand to hold when they are scared.

I’d rather have soldiers trained to think and react rather than rely on superstition and blind dogma.

Besides, if we pulled out the troops and made the US a theocracy, as would happen if you got rid of those who want to protect the Constitution from rabid fanatics, well, we’ve seen how theocracies work – in Afghanistan, Iran, and North Korea (where the “god” is Kim Jung Il) today, and Europe in the middle ages. Because everybody knows that different religions just get along swimmingly. Gotta love them holy Crusades. But are you really suggesting we appease the terrorists both abroad and at home?

I’d go with Psalm 137:9 for the verse on the scopes. Of course, they probably have it on one already.

I still vote for:
