Facebook operates in such a way that your photos from your facebook page can be used in an advert that other people see. It is probably true that the above quoted (from Zimmer) statement needs to be modified to be more accurate, but it is not true that this is false … it is not true that facebook uses your photos in ads, and it IS true (as acknowledged by snopes) that this can be turned off.

Sorry for being a skeptic of snopes style skepticism, but that’s how I roll. Or, actually, role.
