I enjoy reading your stories!

I recall one anecdote in which the ghosts playing pool were a rat moving about and a flapping window shutter, or some such.

However, my best friends in childhood had a resident ghost in their house. When someone was home alone, footsteps would be heard on another floor. If you were in the basement, the footsteps would be on the main floor. If you were on the main floor, the footsteps would be on the upper floor. If you were upstairs, you might hear footsteps downstairs.

My friends named the ghost Charlie or Harvey and left it at that. “Oh, there’s Charlie again.” I don’t know if they were fooling us or not, but they sounded quite matter-of-fact about it.
