Obesity is easily diagnosed at a glance, other possible causes take investigation.

Certainly individuals who are obese are more prone to respiratory complications when getting any illness that hampers respiration. And the fact that this is mostly males would indicate one of two things, first, that it ISN’T obesity, or that obese women are not being hospitalized or are in some way medically neglected.

Nine of the 10 were either obese or extremely obese. Only three of the 10 had other health problems. Two of the three that died had no other health conditions.

I’d also like to point out here that these patients who had “no other health problems could well have had a passel of health issues. When you’re obese, almost every health issue you have gets put down to obesity. Symptoms which would result in a number of tests for fit people are assumed to be a result of obesity, and those tests just aren’t done.
