Sure, its fashionable to always say that “international capitalists” are at fault for wars, but in those days, there was a big push for oil–and a question about who had the ‘right’ to conquer oil pumping nations–and Palestine looked like a good foothold, with a group of folks who claimed a ‘right’ to it.
