Greg: you really ought to have a page with links to all the posts in this series, without a bunch of others cluttering it up, somewhere - it would be a valuable resource for helping people who have been misinformed by the denialists. If you already do, I must have missed it; mind linking?

yogi-one:

The answer is that the scientific community isn't having that discussion any more. There were arguments, many years ago now, and the answers were worked out in the usual scientific way - by going and getting more evidence until no-one could come up with a new theory that wasn't instantly disproved. The rest of the world is being very slow catching up with the science, because there are an awful lot of people who stand to benefit (in the short term) by screwing everyone in the long term. Think of it as being a bit like CDOs for the whole world instead of just the economy.

We see the LOSU is high for the greenhouse gases and their effects. I would also note that here on SB, Science Daily, Live Science, or the Science Channel on TV, there's never any debate about "whether" AGW is happening or that the appropriate response is to limit and curtail it.

That discussion only happens in politics and in the mass media, not in the scientific community. Why is that?
