I don't even understand really why creationists try to give silly explanations for things like where the water for the flood came from. If they believe that Yaldaboath created the world on a whim, by magic, why not just say, look, he sent the waters and took them away again. By his magic. The end. In for a penny, in for a pound, I say. There's no sense in trying to rationalize that level of bible literalism. It just makes them look even more foolish.

The standard line by creationists about how the sedimentary layer sequence in the Grand Canyon is exactly what you'd expect from a flood has always amused me. In between the marine layers at lower levels (Tapeats Sandstone, Bright Angel Shale, Muav and Redwall Limestones) and the marine layers near the top (Toroweap and Kaibab formations) lie three distinctly non-marine layers: Supai, Hermit Shale and Coconino Sandstone. All of these have fossils (ferns, horsetails, lizard/terrestrial arthropod trackways) that couldn't have formed in a marine environment. I have yet to hear even an irrational explanation of this - they just ignore these layers completely, since they don't fit into their "story".
