These are not very high resolution images. If you want larger files just let me know and I’ll get them to you.
All of the photos in this album were shot by Biff Ulm of Wedgwood Studios.

Short Photo Essay
In the meantime, I have a few comments on some of the wedding photos (well, there may be a few photos sprinkled among these comments that are not in the album…)
The preparations (by everyone else, not me) were done out of my sight, in order to preserve our good luck (by the groom not seeing the bride in her wedding dress before the ceremony).

Alyssa, Amanda’s sister, is either reading the Pine Cone or practicing her part in the ceremony. Amanda and I each wrote a letter to the other. Alyssa was to read Amanda’s, and my daughter Julia was to read mine.
I was well prepared for the ceremony, except I forgot to bring socks (well, I had the usual white socks one normally wears with sneakers, right?). Thus the reference to socks (which you probably can’t read in this picture..). Thanks, Joel for loaning me your socks. Thanks also to the tuxedo rental company for putting socks in with the tux. Apparently this is a common problem.

The Wedding Party:
Linda, Amanda’s best friend from way back …

Stephanie, Greg’s best friend from way back. Years ago, Stephanie said to me “Greg, if you ever get married, I want to be your best man.”

Julia, my daugther.

Alyssa, Amanda’s sister

Before any of this, the famous attempt to get up a record 10 skiers behind Randy’s boat.

And here, the seven who actually did get up. The problem was an unworkable ratio between power and mass.

Back to the preparations … This is Julia practicing her reading of Greg’s letter to Amanda …

What are people actually saying, actually thinking, as a ceremony goes on?
“Well this is it … Hey, you’re walking too fast…”

“Right, right, walk slow. I remember now … walk slow…”

Alyssa reading the letter but everyone thinking “OK, think about something else, like that loon swimming around over there, to avoid breaking out in sobs….”

At this moment, Julia is supposed to read the letter from Greg to Amanda. However, due to a small problem with formology and paperwork, the letter is not there … everyone thought the officiant was carrying it, but she thought Julia was carrying it, etc.
This is one of my favorite photographs of all time. Julia is repressing terror, Andrew is repressing something similar. Julia is thinking “OK, I can remember what the letter says … at least the first paragraph ….” and Andrew is thinking “OK, there is no way out of this. I wonder how Greg and Amanda are going to handle this … I am prepared to run somewhere and get the letter, if only I knew where it might be…”

At this moment, Mare senses something is wrong … realizing what it is, she remembers that she had handed her copy of the documents to Michael, or was it Max …. Yes, it was Max …

so a document is fished out of a jacket pocket and handed up towards the front to Greg who hands it to Julia …

It turns out that the only legally required part of a marriage is signing the documents, so we worked it into the ceremony …

So, it all went fairly well. I’m saying “So, what are you going to do with the wedding dress?” And without skipping a beat, Amanda says “I’m going to clean it up, put it in a box, and pretend it’s important to me…” Which, of course, was the only appropriate answer…

So the reception, only a few meters away… This is one use I’ve found for lures that don’t catch fish … as center pieces.

And I swear, this fish is only a little smaller than the largest fish I caught at the lake this summer…

I love this photo because it is so typical. I’m giving a lecture on something and Stephanie is politely waiting for me to shut up…

Mare and Duane, of course, made this all possible and wonderful. And that’s Andrew on the right, not included above (for no reason good or bad) in the roster.

After a summer of removing 1970s period remodeling from the cabin, the rest of the evening was spent dancing to 1970s period music. Could The Village People have known what their influence would be?

NEW: Stephanie and Dom’s Wedding
Stephanie was my best man at my wedding (the one above). So I made the cake for hers. The girl with the black dress doing catering stuff is Betsy, who works for the caterer but happens to be my former student (one of my best students ever!) and friend. (Not former friend … I think we are still friends).
Amanda, Julia and I were dressed up real nice, but unfortunately we never got a picture of ourselves…
