This is a follow up on my earlier post regarding the recent indicators of a downward trajectory in life signs of the Discovery Institute.

This is from a post by Andrea Bottaro at Panda’s Thumb, and it is also being discussed at Pharyngula.

One of the more dastardly, obnoxious, and overtly dishonest efforts that the DI has been engaged in lately is what Bottaro describes as a “new P.R. offensive … to tarnish 150 years of scientific discovery with the stain of one of its aberrations, the logical equivalent of attacking experimental medicine by claiming that it is based on analogous principles as Josef Mengele’s experiments in Nazi concentration camps.” (source).

What I’m talking about, of course, is the DI’s claims that Darwinism is essentially a synonym for eugenics. This is of course absurd.

But Bottaro’s post gives us some interesting additional information worth looking at. This is in refernece to one Dr. Tinkle. (OK, you in the back of the room, stop giggling, now…)

Dr. Tinkle, to make a long and interesting story too short, was very much into eugenics, and he also was the Secretary of the Creation Research Society, a predecessor to the Institute for Creation Research.
