Rich People, Teachers
Or for that matter, rich teachers. Oh, no, that’s not very likely, is it. Anyway, if you are either a rich person or a teacher or simply interested in education, you should know about this.
DonorsChoose is a conduit for people to give money to projects they are specifically interested in, with direct access to info about the project, rather than by giving the money to a foundation which then, in turn, chooses how to distribute it. For large amounts of money, I would go to the foundation, because how do we know that you have any idea of what you are doing? But DonorsChoose is a little like having most of your money in a mutual fund but at the same time trading in a modest amount of stock (as if I would know about any of this), for fun, except you don’t get your money back.
Scienceblogs.com and some other entities are partnering up to make a big push to support teachers working on specific projects in schools around the country, using DonorsChoose as the conduit. To find out about it, click here.
