Science and Reality Matter … Denial of reality is so common and normal in American society today that it’s possible for a person to run a serious and even viable presidential campaign without their denial of reality being seriously questioned. On the contrary, that denial can bolster their chances because if they were to admit to scientific truth, many people would actually be less likely to vote for them!

This is a serious problem. No politician, least of all the President of the United States, can afford to deny what science informs us about our shared reality. Politicians who do this cannot be trusted to come to accurate conclusions about technological and scientific problems or issues, cannot be trusted with leadership of a nation that depends upon science and technology, and cannot be trusted to do a good job at separating evidence from personal faith. Religion, a popular reason for denial of reality, is not a justified excuse….

Are professors really just liberal bullies? … According to a new Zogby poll, a significant number of Americans think that most college professors are politically biased. Considering that more people who identify as “Republican” think that bias is a serious problem, we might assume that they think the bias is of a “liberal” bent.

Conservative scholar Victor Davis Hanson tries to explain this bias, which he feels is leading to a massive miseducation of American students today.
