Yecke Yecke Yecke

Hey, why not just look it up in Wikipedia? Check it out:
In July of 2003 during her term as education commissioner, Yecke proposed Minnesota Science Standards that included intelligent design in science curriculum. She cited the pro-intelligent design Santorum Amendment as supporting her effort.[2] The versions of the Minnesota Science Standards circulated by Yecke contained language used by the pro-intelligent design Teach The Controversy campaign which casts doubt on evolution while offering intelligent design as a competing theory.[3] The version that was circulated among the public did not include these revisions. Critics have deemed this move as a dishonest attempt to misinform the public in order to sway the committee decision in favor of Intelligent Design using public opinion.
Thanks to the tireless efforts of W. Rl Elsberry of Austringer, here are some other sources of information about this Yecke affair:

I saw this coming and I warned them (Yech, Yecke), but they did not listen! Why do the people of Florida never listen to me!?!?

By the way, have you read Cheri’s book “The Ware Against Excellence”? You can read this review of it by Jonathan Butcher, on the Heritage Foundation Site. Just click here. (yea, right, like I’m going to link to the Heritage Foundation unless I need to…). Oh, and her dissertation. It’s on the lack of correlation between money spent on education and student performence.

Almanac had her appear a few times during the standards thing. Video is available online…

One time, just before the committees were to start working, she mentioned the Santorum amendment and how well it did when the Senate was voting on it for NCLB….and that because of it the committee members would be instructed that they could include ID in the standards. This a person who had a job at the DoEd providing technical assistance to states as they implemented the No Child Left Behind Act” before she showed up in Minnesota…and she is suggesting that the Santorum amendment is part of NCLB!
