It is rumored that Donald Trump will pick Doctor Pee as his science adviser. Doctor who? This doctor.

Art Robinson wants to mix all the radioactive waste into water and distribute it in the oceans. He thinks AIDS is made up. Public schools should be abolished. A lot of crazy stuff that has become normal in the White House. He almost won a seat in congress in 2012. He was also the Chairman of the Oregon Republican Party.

He also collects urine. Mine? No not mine, urine! It is part of his super secret research project, which he runs in his own home. He wants 50,000 volunteers to each send him one urine sample every six months, so that he can put the samples in his special machine and cure all diseases.

I believe that for the Trump Administration, Dr Art “Pee” Robinson is the perfect science adviser. What do you think?

  1. Is there no one in the White House who can provide sound advice?!

I hear today that the US is pulling out of UNESCO, probably clutching their $550 billion in arrears. Along with Paris, the TPP, and other international agreements, it seems that the nation is taking every opportunity to turn it’s back on the world.

This will do nothing to “make America [sic] great again”, and it will do a lot to permanently diminish the country forever on the global stage.

  2. ^^^^
” … US pulling out of UNESCO …”.
What the fuck is wrong with the place?
    Dosnt cooperation spin ya wheels?
Its a gobsmackingly stupid, irrational decision.
If ya dont like cooperation, ya might as well quit Five eyes and NATO too. And heaps of other stuff.
Its like yas are on drugs with that sort of decision.
Thats just what the world needs now eh. A place that acts as if its on drugs with a heap of WMDs.
We are trying to improve the world not go fucking backwards you sorry sacks of shit. Jeez.
Cooperation is the foundation of, well , civilization really.
And more than that, its a pillar of humanity.

  3. I believe that for the Trump Administration, Dr Art “Pee” Robinson is the perfect science adviser. What do you think?

Thought the name sounded familiar. That would be Dr Art “OISM” Robinson. Clearly a strong candidate for the job.

  4. UNESCO is an Israel hating group that the President should withdraw from. Under law, the US must not provide funds to any UN agency that accepts Palestine as a member. The IPCC also in such an organization. Now they need to kick out the Red Cross so long as they are not allowing the Red Star of David while allowing Red Crescent.

    1. Why should Palestine not be accepted as a member?

I fear that your assertion is one from ignorance of the history of that area particularly that of the twentieth century and of the way in which Israel carried out vicious acts of ethnic cleansing and stealing of land and carving up the area allocated to Palestine in the West Bank by creating barriers, walls, often demolishing the homes of Palestinians there to achieve their aim of making Palestinians worse than slaves.

A couple of books, by Israeli scholar Ilane Pappe that you need to read are: ‘The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine’ and ‘The Biggest Prison on Earth’.

To understand the origins of this nasty one sided conflict it would be useful to study the importance of the region to Allied interests during WW1 with the machinations of politicians who betrayed the intent of Lawrence of Arabia by carving up Arab lands in ways insensitive to the ethic and religious backgrounds of the varied populace, the Sykes-Picot agreement, also the Balfour Decleration.

Another useful book is ‘Peacemakers Six Months that Changed The World: The Paris Peace Conference of 1919 and Its Attempt to End War’ by Margaret MacMillan, a narrative covering the machinations that took place after the Armistice.

Which having gone back to WW1 it would be useful background to understand the ‘slow fuse’ that lead to the explosion following ignition at Sarajevo. A number of recommended title on that appear, along with books mentioned above, on this repeated book mark I have put together (I do this for all areas of my personal interest including science, climate change, the campaign against climate truths):

One book that does not appear above but which is an essential read is ‘Six Days: How the 1967 War Shaped the Middle East’ by Jeremy Bowen.

  5. So I’m watching last Friday 13th’s Maddow and Last Word broadcasts, and the central theme’s are Trump’s latest attempt to scuttle Obamacare (at the cost of all taxpayers generally, low income earners especially, and most especially Republican low earners), and also to decertify the Iran nuclear agreement. And as a side-dish there’s the ongoing revelation of the depth of Manafort’s collusion with Russian interests for years before, during, and after his running of the Trump presidency campaign.

USA, you need to really, viscerally understand something. The rest of the world sees you as a rogue nation. A country with an inability to be a global citizen, an inability to to act with humanity, an inability to to be trustworthy, an inability to make the planet safer and more secure. You’re a laughing stock, but only when the rest of the world is too tired to maintain its despising of your government’s bull-in-a-china-shop catastrophic policy spiral.

Make no mistake. If you don’t soon halt the destructive march of Trump and his Republican enablers (which is not to say all Republicans), if you don’t repair the damage that they have wrought on the United States, your country will devolve to a basket case that will never again hold its previous place of preeminence on the world stage.

    1. I didn’t say it is unacceptable to have Palestine as a member,

      However you wrote:

Under law, the US must not provide funds to any UN agency that accepts Palestine as a member.

Which makes it implicit that Palestine should not be a UNESCO member.

      Further;

UNESCO is an Israel hating group that the President should withdraw from.

To use ‘hating’ is hyperbole and inflammatory for to criticise Israel for its appalling human rights record is not to hate Israel but an effort to provide help for a beleaguered and systematically terrorised population.

      The Israeli record.

      Not only from Wiki.

    However you wrote:

Yes, I am not the US government. I don’t really understand the basis for that law, perhaps wanting everything to be negotiated, but it is the law. Would you prefer that Trump ignore laws passed by Congress as he deems appropriate?
I agree with Newt Gingrich that there is no such thing as a country called Palestine, which was originally used to refer to Israel. The Palestinians are the same as Jordanians. However, the reality on the ground says we should recognize Palestine as a country.

    1. I agree with Newt Gingrich that there is no such thing as a country called Palestine, which was originally used to refer to Israel.

So many misunderstandings in one statement which betrays your deep ignorance of historical fact. Included in a graphic I linked to above was a book by Llane Pappe, ‘The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine’ which should set your cognitive framework straight.

As I doubt you will bother to find a copy with which to enlighten yourself I’ll put some of the words in front of you.

Take a look yourself and in particular note the text down from:

Eretz Israel, the name for Palestine in the Jewish religion, had been revered throughout the…

Netanyahu is on a mission to coerce other governments into abandoning support for Palestinians using a mixture of threats, as against New Zealand, and playing the victim as in his recent UN speech. He is also trying to cement laws that will give him greater powers and immunity from prosecution from certain charges.

What transpired in the Israeli government over a 24-hour period this past weekend is nothing short of nauseating. It began with a scathing attack by Prime Minister Netanyahu on top police officials in response to news reports that police renewed the investigations against him in a number of corruption scandals. Immediately after that, on Sunday morning, the government approved a new law, allowing ministries to make certain political appointments bypassing normal civil service norms and bidding processes. attacked the national police commissioner for allegedly leaking details of the investigations.

I am out of links so leave it to you to find the source.

It appears that in many countries we are at a point in politics where the hard line right are becoming more fascist and dictatorial, attempting to shore up unpopular administrations by means devious and foul. It is no coincidence that Netanyahu has visited the UK for talks with Theresa May. I cannot help but think that dear Benjamin has been reminding May of how to work control of an uppity population by ghettoisation and social cleansing of key areas by redevelopments that ordinary people cannot afford to live in and other means of exclusion.

  7. Correction, the law doesn’t say Trump must withdraw from UNESCO or IPCC. Only defunding is required.

    > to criticise Israel for its appalling human rights record is not to hate Israel but an effort to provide help

They issued a resolution that gave exclusively Arab names to holy sites in Jerusalem, with only one mention of ‘Wailing Wall’ in quotes. Temple Mount? Never heard of it. UNESCO is a willing part of the Palestinian campaign to erase the Jewish history of Jerusalem.

  8. MikeN, Trump did not defund UNESCO. Your hated President Obama did it in 2010, because of the stupid law you cite.

The bullshit is the accusation that UNESCO’s people hate Israel or that they are trying to erase the Jewish history of Jerusalem.

  9. LionelA, your link calls Israel Palestine, which was the point you said was wrong. Jews have been living in Israel for millennia, particularly Jerusalem, yet the current Palestinian movement tries to erase this history and claim it was merely an unfortunate coincidence for Jews to be given a homeland in this location.

    1. MikeN

      In case of further doubt:

“Palestinians use the Arabic word nakba, which means catastrophe, to describe 1948. A society that had grown up over more than a thousand years was destroyed and scattered across the Middle East. Palestinians fled for the reasons that civilians do in all wars, to save their lives and protect their children and also because, in some places, Israel practised what is now called ethnic cleansing. In Deir Yassin, a village on the outskirts of Jerusalem, Jewish extremists carried out the most notorious massacre of the war [read Llan Pappe ‘The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine’ for others some worse]. They boasted that they killed 250 people. Afterwards, it was enough for Jewish psychological warfare units to broadcast the village’s name for traumatised Palestinian civilians to head for the border.” pp.7-8.

‘Six Days: How the 1967 War Shaped the Middle East’ Jeremy Bowen

Read from page 257 from below the heading ‘Sinai coast, 1230 for an account of the Israeli unprovoked attack by air force and naval units using cannon fire, rockets, napalm and torpedoes on the US sigint ship USS Liberty leaving 34 dead and 171 wounded many seriously.

  10. Yes, they call it a catastrophe, and their goal is to destroy Israel, reverse the catastrophe. Egypt and Syria joined together in 1967 to do the same. Jordan’s king saw the alliance and joined in out of protection. They set out to destroy Israel, and were defeated. Egypt and Jordan never returned to the battlefield, while Syria lost its strategic advantage of the Golan Heights. Meanwhile, so many continue on this path of wanting to destroy Israel and eliminate the Jews. UNESCO contributes its part by trying to erase Jewish history.
Jerusalem has been a Jewish city for thousands of years with a large Muslim population as well.

    1. They set out to destroy Israel, and were defeated.

So you still persist in believing those myths and have not bothered to study further and wose continue to promote lies:

Meanwhile, so many continue on this path of wanting to destroy Israel and eliminate the Jews.

Denial is denial whatever the topic and you are in and pushing denial whilst remaining wilfully ignorant.

How do you describe the attacks on the USS Liberty? Many Americans were killed and injured during that atrocity, get real.

  11. Has Jerusalem been mostly Jewish for thousands of years?

To your very selective reply I will respond with, if you had studied the sources cited you would know the answer to that, you sidewinder.

More perspective on Israel-Palestine through the lens of AIPAC

You really need to do your homework WRT who occupied Palestine. My mother was very religious being daughter of a Baptist minister so Bibles of many editions were around the house during my early years. The King James Bibles had maps in them. As a youngster I was puzzled as to why some maps had an area marked Palestine whilst others had a similar area marked as Israel. My mother failed to provide an answer as to why this dichotomy existed. Of course it was due to the geopolitical situation in the ME and the publishing dates of the various Bibles, some rather old even in the 1950s.

In short, you are talking through your fundament.

  13. LionelA, you keep endorsing my point, while saying I’m making stuff up. Palestine was the name used to refer to Israel from Roman times. The term used to refer to a Jewish area has been coopted to describe a different ‘country’.

    1. MikeN You are not making any sense.

What does this word salad mean, “The term used to refer to a Jewish area has been coopted to describe a different ‘country’?”

Any point you think you are making is so smeared out that it is reminiscent of Heisenburg’s Uncertainty Principle.

  14. “Has Jerusalem been mostly Jewish for thousands of years?”

Was North America mostly Native American before colonists moved in? Flatly stating an area belongs to a a group simply because it has a long history there is not an intelligent stand.

  15. A reminder of the statement by you that I, and sources cited, disagree with:

I agree with Newt Gingrich that there is no such thing as a country called Palestine, which was originally used to refer to Israel.

which, after a strange statement stating Palestinians are the same as Jordanians which they are not, Jordan is a Hashemite kingdom, you followed with:

However, the reality on the ground says we should recognize Palestine as a country.

    Do make up your mind.

  16. Dean, your point is valid. However, unlike you, many people have no knowledge of this history of Jews ever being in Jerusalem. It is a message being pushed by the Palestinian side, enough that I once heard a family member asking why did they have to put Israel there. I also heard it from someone manning a display booth in college, the Palestinian kind that thought Arafat is too nice to Israel..

    1. I’m not saying the Jewish history means it must belong to Jews. Just trying to see whether Lionel is trying to erase this history as well.

  17. Just trying to see whether Lionel is trying to erase this history as well.

I am not trying to erase any history, quite the reverse. But I cannot enlarge further until you make up your mind what ‘this history’ is.
