  1. I heard Wow got an “A” in Sheep and Goats…

Oh, and Greg, you never did explain the reason for my “language warning” …and why the appearance of a double standard.

  2. Perry was a male cheerleader at Texas A&M, so maybe his Ds and Fs in Organic Chem, Shakespeare, Trig, and “Feed and Feeding” reflect his focus on cheerleading instead of studying…?

  3. He probably put the goats on the right and the sheep on the left. 😉

    See Matthew 25:31 and following.

  4. Well it was science, and as ron, mikeN, ron, and betula demonstrate in each one of their posts, science isn’t important, so no big deal, right?

  5. The ‘D’ in Economics made him a shoo-in for a position in the Trump administration. The wonder is that he isn’t in charge of Treasury.

  6. It means the guy in charge of the Department of Energy earned a 1.87 gpa in science – so we are screwed.

  7. When GW Bush was governor of Texas and Perry was lt. governor, Bush was known as the”smart” one.

  8. >It means the guy in charge of the Department of Energy earned a 1.87 gpa in science

Obama had a Nobel Prize winner in charge of the Department of Energy, and that’s when we were really screwed. He said he wanted gas prices to go to the level of Europe.

  9. Simple, born in Haskell, a small west Texas town mentioned in the lyrics of West Texas Highway, sung by another Aggie, Lyle Lovett. Lots of nowhere with a falling population.

His father grew cotton and was a local politician, so he went to A&M and was in the Corps. The “A&M” is especially pertinent to Perry’s education. He is relatively tall and nice looking, so he was a Yell Leader which guaranteed him very useful social connections. Aggies stick together.

Back in this era the tuition for all 4 years at A&M was probably about $500, total. The Corps and being a Yell Leader probably kept him in school. Clearly, he went to the best school possible for his future. Getting an education was not that important to him, but he was able to put in a minimal effort to get the degree.

So, this fall watch a Texas A&M football game and take note of the Yell Leaders. This is what motivated Rick Perry to put in the effort sufficient to get a C in Sheep and Goats.

Like many politicians, including pretty much the entirety of one of our two major political parties, Perry has zero intellectual curiosity about how this world really works. He’s not a total dumbass, but he knows who is calling the shots and knows how to follow orders. So, effectively, he is a dumbass.

I think Perry at Energy is not quite the Doomsday Appointment that some of the rest of Cabinet might be. Maybe only some parts of west Texas will be rendered a bit more uninhabitable by his actions. I could live with that. Maybe.

  10. “Obama had a Nobel Prize winner in charge of the Department of Energy, and that’s when we were really screwed.”

In what way were you really screwed? The global recession happened before Obama, so any screw was already baked in by Shrub’s actions before him.

And please explain how it was a nobel prize winner who made that happen.

This isn’t intelligence envy, so common in the rightwing, is it?

  11. “Obama had a Nobel Prize winner in charge of the Department of Energy, and that’s when we were really screwed.”

Yes, we all remember when President Obama’s policies destroyed the economy and all the growth left to him by President Bush.

Oh, wait, that didn’t happen at all. It’s only in your imagination.

  12. @Dean that’s what happened when Bush let the Democrats con him into signing their Dodd-Frank bill which led to that recessin. Just like Bush senior let them con him into raising taxes after his pledge of no new taxes caused the recession that was over when Clinton ran on it. Of course, Bush Jr. Inherited a recession from Clinton, which slipped the MSM’s mind during the 2000 election, which even the NY Times finally admitted after months of recounting over and over that Bush really won Florida.
Of course, Obama and his chief ACA architect, Jonathan Holmes Gruber, thought the American people were “stupid” and wouldn’t have a clue when the Democrats passed the ACA and why Pelosi and Reid kept the Republicans frm participating and the rest of the country inthe dark until it was passed.
BTW, Rick Perry was a Democrat when he was in colege. It was’t until later when he saw how bad the American people were continuously getting conned by the Democrat politicians that he switched to the other party.

  13. “@Dean that’s what happened when Bush let the Democrats con him into signing their Dodd-Frank ”

Bullshit. What about republican congress? Or the Senate?

Are you going to insist that even when you were in charge of both congress AND the senate AND the presidency (though not all three at the same time) you were so weak that your president could be manipulated into doing the wrong thing and nobody could speak to the president who wasn’t a democrat?!!?!?!?

    You’re just a fucking idiot, aren’t you.

  14. “Of course, Bush Jr. Inherited a recession from Clinton”

Of course that’s complete bullshit since Clinton actually was reducing the defecit and shrub turned that not only around but fired off a masssive global recession AND a multi-trillion unpaid war, turning the entire economy round and into the shitter. To then blame Obama for.

Because you morons “know” that you have all the right ideas and if reality shows otherwise, it must be someone else’s fault.

  15. Wizard, you’ve got nothing but lies in your post but the ACA comment is a realigned. The Republicans decided to stay out of negotiations on ACA in spite of being asked several times, and there were a huge number of meetings and discussions during its development.

Yes, Perry was member of the Democratic party in college. He favored improved health care for women, better social programs, and the like.
He discovered that pushing bigotry and hatred, as well as dissing for women, the poor, and minorities in general was easier (you don’t have to think or show decency in the modern Republican world after all) and single joins the party of repression.
