  1. Nice choice of closing line. It should be on signs outside of every Republican politiician’s office: “You didn’t want to hear about the science when it could have made a difference.”

    1. Yes, that is a good video too. It is hardly a problem, though, that Peter’s video was made a year ago. Still totally current.

  2. What to do about this:

Make sure everyone you know is registered to vote and gets to their polling place. Volunteer to work on voter registration drives: the effort will be far less than dealing with the results if you don’t.

Take nothing for granted. Every single vote counts.

  3. A very nasty surprise in the Greenhouse:

“ ‘I think almost everybody who’s really familiar with both paleo and modern is now very concerned that we are approaching, if we have not passed, the points at which we have locked in really big changes for young people and future generations,’ Hansen said in an interview.”

“Even scientists wary of the conclusions of the new paper point out that Dr. Hansen has a long history of being ahead of the curve in climate science. As Dr. Mann put it, ‘I think we ignore James Hansen at our peril.’ ”

  4. omg.

Beginning at about 1:00, there’s an excerpt from TDAT that is probably the worst example of “exposition” in dialogue, ever. It’s that shit about “critical desalinization point.”

This is the curse of screenplay writers. It reminds me of the line from Bogart, who said: “If I ever have exposition to say, I pray to God that in the back of the shot they’ve got two camels fucking.”

  5. If only the twisters were limited to Los Angeles !

Climate scientists have bee saving the Earth in Roland Emmerich climate disaster flics ever since extinction loomed from oil fires in The Noah’s Ark Principle five decades ago.

  6. The video became topical again with the announcement of Hansen et al’s ACP paper passing review. Peter Sinclair is linking back to it himself. You were just a day or two ahead of the game 🙂
