First, just in case you didn’t know, Grover Norquist is a right wing lobbyist who developed the “Taxpayer Protection Pledge” that most Republicans are required to sign in order to run for office. He apparently hosted a “victory party” on election eve, but the party was crashed, and pawned, by a left wing activist street performer with a camera. The following ensued:

  1. I’ve been keeping an eye on the comment section on an aricle over at ComputerWorld by Preson Gralla on the epic failure of the Republican campaign’s big-data app Orca. It’s been just over a day and there are 440 comments (quite large for ComputerWorld). The most common is that the election was rigged followed by hurricane Sandy tilted the election in Obama’s favor. These people are nuts. They can’t just accept the fact that they lost the election clean and fair. There just has to be some kind of conspiracy going on. That’s the overall mindset.

They can’t seem to comprehend that if they maintain that mindset they will never come to understand the true nature of the Republican’s defeat and will just continue to lose. That’s okay with me. But man, they are really stuck in that rigged election thinking.

  2. Funny thing is, all the evidence for bias, voter suppression, and rigging suggests the other way and they still lost.

  3. as soon as MSNBC called Ohio for Obama, we turned to FOX to watch their interpretation of the event, and we were just in time to see Karl Rove have a near panic attack on-air. He looked every bit the person who was certain the fix was in, and just couldn’t believe he wasn’t turning out as expected. Next day his definition of voter suppression was that too many people voted for Obama. Hmm-m-m, was that not the way the fix was supposed to go, Karl??

  4. I do suspect that there was some liquid courage involved, the guy note the guy was holding a beer bottle. If you watch campus PD you see how liquid courage can affect folks and make them act strangely.

  5. Sorry for this comment being unrelated, but I have the hardest time visiting this site without my computer locking up while I’m waiting for the page to load, and then when it loads it still takes a while to unlock.

    This sucks.

Is it because i have an old computer w/ 512 RAM (but I’m running Ubuntu 10.04), is it Firefox, or is it AdBlock Plus, or something else? It’s so frustrating.

  6. @Charles Sullivan.

My money is on 512M. That’s very low for a GUI.

My laptop runs OpenSUSE 12.2 / Firefox / Adblock Plus
and I have no problems. However it has 2G of RAM.

Try using Google Chrome with no extensions for a second browser. I sometimes use it for troublesome sites. Firefox (if that’s what you are usining) is kind of a hog. Chrome is a little lighter especially without any extensions. You’ll have to close down Firefox to get all the benefit of Chrome’s speed.
