Mississippi Representative Andy Gipson: Put gays to death

Spread the love

This is just coming to light, apparently. Mississippi Republican Andy Gipson posed the following on his Facebook page on May 10th:

“Been a lot of press on Obama’s opinion on “homosexual marriage.” The only opinion that counts is God’s: see Romans 1:26-28 and Leviticus 20:13. Anyway you slice it, it is sin. Not to mention horrific social policy.”

According to Leviticus 20:13, “If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.”

Unity Mississippi asked him to apologize, but instead he said:

“To be clear, I want the world to know that I do not, cannot, and will not apologize for the inspired truth of God’s Word. It is one thing that will never “change.” Anyone who knows me knows I also believe that all people are created in God’s image, and that all people are loved by God, so much so that He gave us the truth of His Word which convicts us of the reality and guilt of our sin, and He gave us His Son Jesus who paid the full penalty for all our sins, by His grace through our faith in Him as we repent of our sin. John 3:16. It is this message that I preach every Sunday. I sincerely pray God will reach someone through this message.”

We await his resignation. Oh, wait, he’s a state rep in Mississippi. He’ll be elected governor.

  1. For Gipson, I can reuse a curse I wrote for all of the self-righteous Morning People:

May you wake up at 3:00 AM some Sunday morning to the smell of smoke and dial 911 only to hear “The Emergency Services Center is closed. Please call back during Normal Business Hours. Thank you.”

BTW, if Gipson shaves, or even trims his beard, the Holy Babble says he should die alongside the gays and people who wear mixed-fiber clothing. Where in hell did THAT one come from?

  2. Fucking hypocrite now says he doesn’t want gays put to death. I thought one was either on gawd’s side or the evil side. I hope that fence he’s sitting leaves splinters in his hemorroids.

  3. Gipson looks awfully clean-shaven for someone who insists on Leviticus as a source of law…

  4. Note to Gibson: the same scripture that tells you to kill gays (side note: you have to kill the gays, you can’t contract it out) also says to kill people who eat catfish. I’m sure your supporters in Mississippi believe it too.

  5. They’ll have to nuke the gay inmates’ straight parents from orbit as well. Only way to be sure.

  6. Dear Rep. Gipson,

Where do I report brides who I suspect of not being virgins, so that they can be stoned to death? Deuteronomy 22.20-21 is pretty clear on this. Also, I understand that many Mississippi police departments and hospitals may actually provide help and treatment to rape victims, instead of stoning them to death as prescribed by Deut. 22:23-24. Please bring an end to this un-Biblical treatment of rape victims, and kill them as God wants.

  7. The male and female adoption model is an emulation of the natural parental relationship. A homosexual relationship cannot emulate this and therefore is not equal. The natural, male and female relationship model should be preferred.

    1. Actually, levels of abuse (on one hand) and measures of success (on the other) are lower and higher, respectively, in same sex parent adoptions in both non human animals and humans, when adoption is defined pragmatically. So, no, you are really wrong.

  8. @ Wiktoria : “..A homosexual relationship cannot emulate this.”

It can’t? Says who and with what evidence?

OTOH, why not look at this survey :

    http://theconversation.com/kids-from-same-sex-families-fare-as-well-as-peers-or-better-28803

.. research my colleagues and I (That authors – ed) published in the journal BMC Public Health shows this isn’t the case.

In fact, we found children in same-sex families scored better on a number of key measures of physical health and social well-being than kids from the general population. …(Snip) .. Our findings support and strengthen the existing international research undertaken with smaller sample sizes.

Oh yeah, because the facts actually contradict Wiktoria completely. Well, almost so, children adopted by gay couples do have one obstacle with that being the remnant and fast decaying homophobia of the handful of hateful dropkicks* still sticking around – but society is already adjusting and making the homophobes look about as popular as the anti-interracial marriage bigots already are.

    * My first choice of word there was the colloquial usage of “dinosaur” and then my second thought was to go with ‘dodo” but neither usage is really appropriate or fair to the marvellous creatures those respective extinct species were. So I went for an ockerism that better sums up those losers although without the emphasis on how the bigots too are going extinct fortunately at a very remarkably rapid (if still not quick enough!) rate.

  9. Well, I wonder what Andy “the inspired truth of God’s Word” Gipson makes of the following Biblical verses? :

    http://www.bricktestament.com/david_vs_saul/jonathan_and_david/1s20_42a.html

    1 Samuel 20:42
Jonathan said to David, ‘Go in peace, for we have sworn in the name of Yahweh that Yahweh will bond you and me and your descendants and my descendants forever.’

    Plus :

    1 Samuel 20:17
Jonathan made David swear again by his love for him, for he loved him with his whole being.

    In addition to :

    1 Samuel 20:41
They (David & Jonathan – ed) kissed each other.

    http://www.thebricktestament.com/david_vs_saul/a_song_for_jonathan_and_saul/2s01_26.html

    2 Samuel 1:26
‘I grieve over you, my brother Jonathan. Your love was more dear to me than the love of a woman!’

Awk—ward! To his case at least!

PS. Funnily enough, the Bible contradicts itself in a remarkable number of places for a truly divinely-dictated and to-be-taken-literally “science” textbook don’t it?

PPS> Wonder what Gipsons stance on banning shellfish, multi-material clothing and selling daughters into slavery is? Wonder if he’s read this :
