New, Outstanding Blogs Join FTB.com!!!

Freethoughtblogs.com has just added seven new bloggers, and I thought you’d want to know. With this new group of bloggers, FTB.com has become too big for our own sidebar listing us! Gonna have to go drop down soon.

Dana Hunter is a science blogger and writer of science fiction, and she’s into geology. If you don’t know her blog, you should, it is one of my faves and one I regularly check. The name of Dana’s blog is En Tequila es Verdad which I think is some kind of drink. You will find her blog here.

Al Stefanelli is the Georgia State Director for American Atheists, so he’s a heavy hitter in the atheist community. He wrote A Voice Of Reason In An Unreasonable World: The Rise Of Atheism On Planet Earth. He writes all over the place (see his “about” sidebar blurb) and does at least one podcast. His blog is names as is his book.

The third new blog is a radio show called The Atheist Experience. It comes out of Austin, and is here.

Crommunist is the presumably pseudonymous (though I’ve known people who had to be talked out of naming their children “Communist” which is pretty similar) handle for the writer of “Crommunist Manifesto.” This is one of the few blogs out there in the skeptical/atheist community that explictly addresses race and race issues, which is also an explicit interest of mine. So this should be fun. In a tense, uncomfortable and trying sort of way. Please visit Crommunist Manifest.

Next we have JT Eberhard, who is a campus organize with the Secular Student Alliance. JT focues on LGBT rights and atheism, and is a founding member of the Skepticon annual conference. His blog is What Would JT To?

They say there are no atheists in the fox hole, but we all know that’s self serving propaganda and rather insulting at that. Justin Griffith is one of them, and he is also the Military Director for American Atheists. You know of him for his work on “Rock Beyond Belief” at Fort Bragg. And that is the name of his blog!

And finally, Kylie Sturgess!! Kylie is the host of the podcast Token Skeptic, and writes all over the place. Her blog will be called Token Skeptic. Kylie is an academic specializing in the philosophy surrounding such things as skepticism, and she is one of the three or four reasons I often start a post in which I muse on the topic with something like “I’m not an expert, and the experts will tell you where I’m wrong, but …” then I say some stupid stuff. Kylie is based in Australia and will be using the Darwin Time Zone for her blog clock.

  1. Kylie Sturgess says:

Thank you very much for the shout-out! :)

  2. Dana Hunter says:

Wow. Greg Laden reads my blog. Aren’t you busy with better things, mister? ;-P Delighted to be here, excited beyond belief to be a part of this crew, and so happy the crowd I came in with is so unutterably awesome!

  3. Greg Laden says:

    I’m a sucker for geology!

  4. P Smith says:

Is there or will there be a way to store personal preferences on FTB? How about a way for readers to customize the order of how bloggers appear?

I’d prefer to sort blogs top to bottom by how much I read each – and I doubt my list would agree with others’ lists. There’s one blogger I won’t name (other than to say he’s juvenile and a horrible writer) who I’d rather not see listed if I had an option to hide him.
