  1. John Lennon, artist, performer, peace activist.

He could have withdrawn, with his earnings, and his toys, frivolously spent his wages on amusements and trinkets, but he was better than that.

He used his money and his celebrity to work for peace. The penultimate human right.

He and his artist wife, spent time, and money and celebrity to bring the idea of PEACE ACTIVISM to that universe of humanity that only wanted to hear him sing.

Many especially in the officially sanctioned commercial culture urged him to sit down and shut up, and he became one more victim of the security state, as has been shown even in the little evidence that has already surfaced.

Attacks by the Nixon Administration were certainly not limited to immigration and FBI harassment. Although a gun did what damage it could to his biological life, the life of his message and spirit could not be silenced. I dreamed I saw Joe Hill last night… Imagine that, all of you who worked in vain to silence him.

And to all of you that heard his message of peace, let’s continue everyday to GIVE PEACE A CHANCE. In Afghanistan, in Pakistan, in Central and South America and in Africa as well.

“All we are saying, is give PEACE a chance.”
