Hoards of ignorant christian honkies with their racism and their guns

Can we be done with questioning if there is racism, done with respecting the religion, done with worshiping the firearms, and can we start calling out the ignorance?

On 9.12.2009, we went to Washington DC to document the Tea Party protests against, well, a lot of things, including health insurance reform, the IRS, abortion, global warming, and our “socialist/communist/fascist/Nazi/Muslim ” president, Barack Obama. Some of them called for a return to McCarthyism, while others called for Glenn Beck to run for office–indeed, it seemed the only thing that everyone agreed on was Fox News.

  1. Well can’t we also agree that Glenn should run for president? I mean, I’m as happy to see the Republican party circling the drain as they are happy to be in the gutter.

  2. “Maybe she’s too concerned with her intellectual integrity to join Beck.”

Yes, and I hear Paris Hilton is concerned about her public decorum. 🙂

  3. Kudos to those of you who have the stomach to watch stories like these. I just can’t bear to watch it. However, I do enjoy reading your comments!

  4. Wow, I don’t know how I made it through that. To think that people could be that ignorant of how the government works. That is some scary stuff right there.

  5. … “ignorant christian honkies with their racism and their guns”

The point is that they are proud of their ignorance, their whiteness, their unquestioned religious beliefs, their racism and their fetish for guns. You can’t reason with them because reason is not part of their system.

Feeling under siege, a feeling reinforced through their media choices, they have retreated to simplistic adolescent patterns. They have retreated into a defensive crouch and resist all change. Even if the change would clearly benefit them.
