  1. “What must our Founding Fathers be thinking now, as they look down from Heaven…”

If there were a Heaven, I’m sure many of the Founding Fathers would have ended up elsewhere.

  2. My name is Congresswoman Michele Bachmann…

I don’t think that getting elected to congress legally changes ones name to “Congresswoman”. I could be wrong though.

  3. One of the founding principles of our great nation is found in Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution:

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States

  4. Yeah, unlimited access to your credit cards is unconstitutional! How dare government tax you in what amounts to a social contract wherein they are also expected to provide necessary services like a standing army and roads and schools and police and fire fighters.

Whatever. If I was rich, I’d be happy to pay more taxes. I’m happy to pay the taxes I do now, and I’m in Canada and lower-middle-class. :p

She probably thought changing her name to “Congresswoman Michele Bachmann” would help her get re-elected.

When CMB talks about government spending, does she have any idea where that money goes? The largest chunk goes to the military. How would she like to come out and advocate cutting military spending? Or how about lower salaries for Congressional Representatives? When we start cutting government spending, what gets cut? Welfare, healthcare, education, all the necessities for building a prosperous society. I’d like her to come out and say she wants to take away healthcare from needy children and returning veterans.

  6. The problem with trying to play by someone else’s rules, Spiff, is that you’ll frequently miss the subtleties. The rest of the rule about calling names requires being able to back the names up when challenged. You’ve already failed, but you can try again if you like.

  7. @6

Why would anyone want to cut military spending. She just thinks it’s unjust to levy taxes to pay for it, that’s all.

  8. I didn’t call anybody a name, I just made a observation to a behavioral pattern.

Also, fighting on the internet is like participating in the Special Olympics. Even if you win you are still a retard.

Now that is calling someone a name.

  9. The way you fight, you make a pretty good case study. However, one anecdote does not data make. Nice way to avoid trying to back up your original assertion, though.

  10. @Spiff, if as you say liberalism is a mental disorder, then so is conservatism.

Saying you didn’t call anyone a name is a pathetic sidestep. If you’re going to say something that would generally be considered an insult, at least stand by it.

“UM…Ben Franklin is looking down on us from heaven?”

Yes. Specifically, he’s looking down the front of women’s blouses from heaven.

  12. I love it when neo-cons call non neo-cons “liberals”. As if there are only 2 types of people and only 2 ways of thinking about politics. Frankly, I don’t take it as an insult at all. Liberal means generous (similarly, conservative means stingy). Think of the most kind, loving people you can (ummm… Jesus comes to mind). They were more liberal than not. If one donates to a charity, doesn’t that make them “liberal”? It cracks me up when I hear “you liberal” because they have no clue what it means, or at the very least they are making up their own meaning that isn’t translating very well.
