Lots of important things. For one, it’s Amanda’s birthday! Then, there is some holiday on that date, can’t remember. Labor day or something. Then, the 2009 Readers’ Choice Awards for Linux Journal come out!

Between now and then, go ahead and vote on your favorite Linux Stuff. To take the survey, must insall lynx if don’t have it:

sudo apt-get install lynx

then type in:

lynx www.linuxjournal.com/content/readers-choice-awards

Or, if you must, just CLICK HERE.

Have you read the breakthrough novel of the year? When you are done with that, try:

  1. Well, it looks like I don’t have much to celebrate that day except Amanda’s birthday and Stephanie’s first date with Ben. My own birthday is about a week and a half later. But the Linux Journal awards are sure to be interesting.

I already have lynx installed, by the way. It’s a good way to show people how screen readers and search-engine spiders “see” the web.

  2. I’ve never been a fan of “readers’ choice” awards. People just vote for what they know or are familiar with, which will usually be a small minority of the software listed.

(I’m just bitter after years of reading these awards in magazines, seeing IE6 presented as best of breed rather than being the default browser shipped with the monopoly OS).
